In December 2019 the government announced it would be making additional funds available to support people training in England for some health professions. In January 2020 it was announced several of the Allied Health Professions are included and podiatry is one of those professions

There is a basic additional maintenance grant of £5000 per year, which does not have to be paid back. This comes on top of whatever other arrangements you might have in place, such as a student loan (which you will still have to pay back).

For some students and some subjects, further funding is available:
• £1000 if you are starting a course in the podiatry
• £1000 towards childcare costs (if eligible)
• £1000 if you are studying in a region that is struggling to recruit (if eligible)

Tuition fees are still funded for students studying in Scotland, Ireland and Wales so you should visit the individual university websites for further information and to see if you qualify for funding.
