AHP 4: Retention and support for students, the newly-qualified workforce and early careers
Aim
As a part of the AHP Workstream Projects commissioned by Health Education England (HEE), this project focuses on ensuring newly-qualified podiatrists are supported and retained, whilst enhancing early career development opportunities.
Activities include:
- Working with podiatry managers to ensure graduates have access to an NHS Band 5 job offer
- Promote optimisation of practice-based learning
- Increase capability, confidence, and system responsibility of new raduates in the workforce by promoting the scope of practice at a Band 5
- Highlight the opportunities of preceptorship
With podiatry workforce levels becoming increasingly pressured, it is important that as many students as possible complete the programme of study, increase rate of new graduates opting to work in the NHS and experience a rewarding early career.
